The Occupational Health Centre in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Lithuania, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) Lithuanian Focal Point, the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania as well as the Finnish Embassy in Lithuania organised a conference within the framework of the 2016–2017 European campaign “Healthy Workplaces for All Ages”. The international conference “Promoting a Sustainable Working Life: Healthy Workplaces for All Ages” was organised on 17th of November 2016 in Vilnius, Lithuania, for approx. 100 attendees. Several experts from the Nordic/European countries as speakers shared their knowledge with the Lithuanian stakeholders working in the area of occupational safety and health, occupational health professionals working in occupational health and safety services in enterprices, university, business representatives, etc.
The afternoon session of the conference was dedicated for the national award scheme for enterprises promoting health at workplaces. It started with an overwiev about the competition “Health promoting enterprise 2016“ and continued with the awards of the winners of the competition. The competition "Health promoting enterprise 2016" was attended by 18 enterprices from Lithuania based in Vilnius, Klaipeda, Panevezys, Siauliai, Druskininkai, Marijampole and Plunge. The competition was intended to promote the healthy working environment for employees and health promotion measures and activities that are used in different enterprices. The presented cases could serve as an example to other enterprices.
Three enterprices were awarded with the main prizes of the competition – JSC "AQ Wiring Systems“ was awarded for consistent and comprehensive care for the health of employees as well as for the employees health promotion taking into account the risk factors; JSC „Sicor Biotech“ - for the health conscious development environment and for the initiatives and the special attention to employees' family members; JSC „PPMI Group“ was awarded for development of the health favorable environment at the workplace. Another 6 companies were granted and encouraged with special nominations: JSC "Lucida Linea (micro enterprise category), SC „Lietuvos paštas“ (for their efforts promoting health activities to the greatest number of employees), UAB Conresta (for social responsibility), AB „Vilniaus baldai“ (for systemic and integrated approach to the emploee health maintenance), UAB „Raminora" (for creation of the favorable to health environment) and Klaipeda State Seaport Authority (Klaipėdos valstybinio jūrų uosto direkcija ) (for health measures abundance applied to the employees). All the enterprices that took part in the competition were awarded by the acknowledgements for promoting health at workplaces signed by the heads of the Ministry of Health and the Institute of Hygiene.
The sponsors of the event – the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania, the Embassy of Finland, Lithuania, and the EU-OSHA's focal point were also honored by special thanksgiving gifts.
